[Biological and chemical synthesis of high-value active ingredients in traditional Chinese medicine]. Zhongguo Zhong yao za zhi = Zhongguo zhongyao zazhi = China journal of Chinese materia medica Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) contains many high-value active ingredients, such as artemisinin, paclitaxel, vinblastine, and vincristine. However, these ingredients are present in low concentrations in the original plants, and their complex structures make extraction and separation challenging. To protect the limited resources of TCM, researchers have employed total chemical synthesis strategies to prepare structurally complex high-value active ingredients in TCM. However, harsh reaction conditions, lengthy routes, and low yields pose challenges to total chemical synthesis. With the development of synthetic biology, many high-value active ingredients can now be prepared through bio-cell engineering, complementing total chemical synthesis and offering new strategies for the preparation of high-value active ingredients in TCM. This article briefly reviewed the research progress in the biological and chemical synthesis of representative high-value active ingredients in TCM, including β-elemene, artemisinin, tanshinone, vincristine, and homoharringtonine. This article proposed a research paradigm that combined biological and chemical synthesis, including chemical enzyme-mediated structural modification of high-value active ingredients in TCM, semi-synthetic production of high-value active ingredients in TCM using biological synthesis, and biomimetic synthesis to facilitate the biological synthesis pathway of high-value active ingredients in TCM. It provided an important reference for the synthesis of high-value active ingredients in TCM. 10.19540/j.cnki.cjcmm.20240517.102
[Application of bioinformatics in study of Chinese medicine resources]. Xie Teng,Wang Sheng,Ma Jiong,Guo Lan-Ping Zhongguo Zhong yao za zhi = Zhongguo zhongyao zazhi = China journal of Chinese materia medica In the late 20th century, the rapid development of life sciences resulted masses of biological data, in which laws of life sciences urgently needed to be excavated. Together with the progress of computer science and technology, bioinformatics was born. Chinese medicinal resources, especially the plant resources, are the basis for the development of the Chinese pharmaceutical industry. As a new discipline and important life science research tools, bioinformatics applied rapidly in the study of Chinese medicine resources and involved in different aspects of genomics in recent years. Bioinformatics provides a new research approach to reveal the biological principles, methods and techniques and powerful tools of excavation, at the same time it is speeding researches in the field of Chinese medicine resources and the development of the industry. This article summarizes a comprehensive collection of bioinformatics application data in the study of Chinese medicine resources, prospects the application in Chinese medicine resources, and provides a basis bioinformatics information for the study of Chinese medicine resources.
[Development trend of traditional Chinese medicine resources]. Huang Luqi,Peng Huasheng,Xiao Peigen Zhongguo Zhong yao za zhi = Zhongguo zhongyao zazhi = China journal of Chinese materia medica The paper analyzed the current status and existing problems of traditional Chinese medicine resources. Blind introduction phenomenon, slow progress of variety breeding, low utilization rate of medicinal parts and herb residue seriously affected the sustainable development of traditional Chinese medicine resources. This paper raised suggestions according to these problems: to develop directional cultivation based on genuine drug, to develop directive breeding based on improvement the content of effective components, to expanding use the medicinal parts based on diversification and to comprehensive use the herb residue.
